About

I graduated from Faculty of education at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. The theme of my diploma thesis was political and engaged comics. Currently, I study PhD program on the same faculty. The main focus of my research is on the interpretation of political and
social issues, using comics and graphic novels,
and improvement of civics and history education,
as well as on political and media literacy on high
schools. As a connecting medium, I am using
the subject of fine arts.
I also co-organize international comics festival
KOMA in Brno, that supports artists by providing
them a platform to exhibit their works. Another
project that I am involved in is a new independent
gallery in Brno (Sibiř gallery), a free space for artists that don´t have an opportunity to exhibit their work in big, state-owned or commercial galleries.
The main areas of my work are paintings,
illustrations, and comics. The topics differ
from personal themes (visible in comics series
Happy Days and painting series Reclaim violence)
to social and political problems of our
era. The media I am using are traditional, yet
I am trying to implement raw materials like
ashes, blood and sharp objects like needles
and razor blades to strengthen the emotion.
The intention is not to hide any invisible information,
I want to show all the emotions
exactly how I feel them, sometimes in metaphors.
Coming from my very own experiences
and views of the world, but also interpretating
huge clusters of information, that overwhelm
us every day.
